Football Academy MOSKISA - new pitch needed

by Asociacion Nyumbani Nala

MOSKISA stands for "Moshi Street Kids Soccer Academy", an organisation that gives children a promising future through sport and education. Moskisa offers a platform for professional football training, educational assistance and social support through various programmes. At the "MOSKISA Children's Campus", the children, who often come from broken homes, are provided with accommodation, food and clothing until they graduate from school.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
From 2015 to 2017, Coach Elisafi Wilson, the founder of MOSKISA, spent his holidays with street children from Moshi and brought them together by running a series of "street children's camps" during the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays. Here he provided the children with food, clothing and fun through football. He also organised a football tournament at the end of each camp, where he awarded medals and small gifts to the best players in various positions. Eventually, he realised how much potential there was for football in many street children, so in 2017 he founded the MOSKISA SOCCER CENTRE, where the children could come during the day while they had to return to the streets at night. After three years of learning and experience in dealing with street children, he wanted to take a new step and instead of letting them go back to the streets after training, he decided to offer the children with outstanding performances a protected space and develop their talents. So he organised football camps on many holidays, and those who performed well were offered the chance to stay and develop their football talent.

WHAT MOSKISA OFFERS TODAY
i. Professional football training (physical, technical, tactical, nutritional, psychological/mental)
ii. International languages (German, English, French, Spanish)
iii. Basic management (leadership, communication, rhetoric, finance, marketing, life skills)
iv. Art and design
v. Music and dance
vi. Ecological sustainability
vii. Sports and education scholarship programme in partnership with international organisations

WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED
The MOSKISA FOOTBALL ACADEMY has transformed many street children who came from precarious backgrounds and were unable to read or do maths.
With MOSKISA's support, they have been able to "learn to learn", improve their football skills and ultimately perform well to very well at school.
Some of them have been given a real chance at a football career. Here are some examples:

Neema Shau made it into the Kenyan women's football league
Jonathan Skwaze made it into the U20 of Simba Club, the Tanzanian first division team
Yahaya Ndutu received a sports scholarship at Stanford University, USA
Ramadhan Ally made it to the Kenyan Premier League with KCB
Hamis Barua was invited to HB Koge Fottball Academy in Denmark to participate in a summer camp
Matayo E Kananda was invited to a Talent-camp of Olympiakos FC in Greece

WHAT MOSKISA NEEDS
A new football pitch is currently needed as MOSKISA had to leave the old pitch. MOSKISA had to move to a new campus in 2023 and is now far away from the old pitch and it is difficult to let all the children walk the long distances every day.
That's why we want to build a great new pitch right next to the campus. The pitch needs to be levelled, new grass needs to be laid, goals need to be purchased, etc. We are also planning a changing room, a mini grandstand, lighting (after 6.30 pm it gets dark all year round in Tanzania) and fencing.
