Help us in the fight against poverty and loneliness of Seniors
efter Fundacja Senior w KoronieLET’S HELP WHERE NO ONE ELSE REACHES
For many elderly people, their world shrinks to four walls. Outside, daily life goes on. Neighbors come and go, sometimes unaware that a lonely, elderly person lives next door, seeing them rarely or never at all. A few stairs can be an insurmountable barrier, even harder when it’s several flights of stairs. We call these seniors, trapped forever in their apartments, “prisoners of the fourth floor.” Not all of them are known to social service centers. They are often dependent on people who exploit them financially. These seniors are typically in very poor health, and their homes lack functioning equipment.
TOUGH CHOICES
Not only those who stay at home need help. Seniors who are still mobile but have very low income and lack the support of loved ones also struggle to meet basic needs. They often give up on treatment, don’t repair broken equipment, and wear worn-out clothes and shoes. The lack of support from younger and more capable family members makes everyday life extremely difficult. Even something as simple as changing a lightbulb on the ceiling can be a problem. The situation becomes truly dramatic when an elderly person starts losing their orientation or memory.
WE DON’T REPLACE FAMILIES
The mission of our Foundation is to help people over 75 years old who, due to their health, insufficient financial resources, and loneliness, cannot meet their needs to live with dignity.
Some of our beneficiaries have families, sometimes even living under the same roof. These are often dysfunctional families, including those where seniors suffer from abuse. Not all our beneficiaries are childless—some elderly women support adult, disabled children. We make every effort to understand the family situation of each senior. Our goal is for our help to reach those who need it most.
HOW WE HELP
Every elderly person has a different story, usually of long-term poverty and many struggles. Therefore, we strive to provide as comprehensive support as possible. We collaborate with social service centers and many non-governmental organizations to provide a wide safety net for our beneficiaries.
We ensure weekly meals and help with access to essential food products. We fund visits to specialists, purchase glasses, pay for prescriptions, provide medical transportation, and cover urgent treatments so that our seniors have access to necessary healthcare.
For those who need help with daily activities, we provide rehabilitation equipment. We also carry out renovations for those living in extremely poor conditions, replacing bedding, furniture, and household appliances, and delivering clothing and footwear.
We also try to bring a little joy to our beneficiaries whenever time and funds allow. For instance, Mrs. Krysia was speechless when she returned from the hospital to find her apartment completely renovated. She thought she had mistakenly entered the wrong floor…
We have opened the first senior shop in Poland, dedicated to retired seniors, to make it easier for them to access necessary goods, bread, and clothing - all for free.
Emotional support for those who are completely alone is crucial. Our volunteers regularly visit seniors to remind them that they are still part of a community. We organize outings, meetings, and special events. We never forget birthdays. Every Saturday, seniors can gather in our lounge to talk, spend time together over a free cup of coffee or tea, and a piece of cake. We want to emphasize the word free—the Foundation does not charge any fees from its beneficiaries for the services provided.
YOUR HELP CAN WORK WONDERS
