The small school in Tzanchaj, Guatemala provides early childhood bi-lingual education for children ages 2.5 to 6. It serves 75 children by providing a full scholarship that includes school supplies, breakfast and lunch, as well as highly trained teachers. The children speak the local Maya language, Tzutujil, at home and come to preschool to learn Spanish and Tzutujil.
The annual budget for this school is $43,000. Their dream is to grow from an early childhood education center to a full elementary school. To realize this dream, the school has raised the funds to build new classrooms but needs support to pay the teachers' salaries and fund the students' scholarships.
