The project used the SCHOOL WITH DESIGN methodology (a program that supports schools in modernizing their learning environments in the spirit of 21st century education) to support the integration of Ukrainian and other refugees in Polish schools. It offers financial support for redesigning the school spaces (already 55 schools supported), that are to be spent by the children themselves on creating a better, safer and more adapted space. The project focuses on a participatory process and is based on design thinking methodology, that successfully helps to to build a sense of community and belonging, and foster integration of the newcomers.
Throughout the whole process young people plan and implement many different changes in their learning environments. We believe that those changes deeply influence the learning, sense of well being and belonging but our goal is also to awaken students’ social awareness and sense of responsibility. Each school receives intensive individual support throughout the school year: online coaching, and workshops with architects.
All contributions gathered will be transferred to fund additional grants and training support for schools (5.000 USD per school)
